TANGLUNG POTLUCK PARTY 2006

6 OCT 2006.
The Mid Autumn Tanglung Festival potluck party was held at the park of Jalan SS22A/5. It was great opportunity for the residents to get together. The party was well attended by both the young and the senior.

SENIOR CITIZENS CARNIVAL

1 OCT 2006. The Senior Citizens Fund Raising Charity Carnival was held in Yuk Chai Primary School to raise funds for the construction of a day care community centre at Kelana Jaya for the old folks. DJROA participated in this carnival by setting up a booth to seel food, cakes and drinks. The specialty at the DJROA booth was Fried Kuey Teow, specially cooked by Corrine Chong from Hong Mei Restaurant. Our booth collected RM3,261 in sales that day. The carnival was able to meet its objective of collecting RM300,000.

TOUR TO FISH FARM & GOLDEN DRAGON TEMPLE

24 September 2006.
We arrived at Batu Arang fish farm - the largest in Malaysia at 9am. We were treated with a guided tour of the fish hatchery center to understand how various types of fresh water fishes are hatched.

The group then visited the Golden Dragon Temple at Rawang before proceed for lunch at Restaurant Ching Hiong with fresh water fishes sponsored by the fish farm owner, Mr Yong.

After lunch, we visited Orchid Farm of United Plantation. All of us were fascinated by the various types of rare orchids.

The next stop was fruits orchard and the famous Fai Fong Bakery at Batu Arang. The bakery was famous with freshly baked Mooncake and biscuits.

Ended the day with a 10 course dinner which included the famous Bagger's Chicken and special glutinous rice of Ijok.

Special thanks to Mr Tan & wife Canny who had arranged with the fish farm owner to make this trip a success.

1 Day Tour To Bentong & Raub

29 Aug 2006. The 44 strong delegates led by Fong TY, Julia, Nancy & Joyce was greeted by Mr CK Chan, Bentong Village Development Officer(VDO). We were taken to a Soy Sauce factory and was briefed on the manufacturing process.

The group then move to Raub where we were greeted by the VDO Chung Pei Wah and MCA wanita Wen Tah Cheh. We visited Bukit Koman Village Taufu factory and Sempalit Groundnut factory.

The next stop was Sg Penjuring New Village. There we were greeted by VDO Lee Ah Ying. We were treated with their famous Kongsai lunch and local fruits like durian, rambutan and mangosteens. We were then entertained by their line dancing performance which was then reciprocated by DJROA members.

The last stop was Karak vegetable farm. The farm adopted modern farming technology where vegetables are farmed under netting.

MERDEKA CELEBRATIONS 2006

16 August 2006.
In conjunction with the 49th National Day celebration, MBPJ held a Bunga Raya planting campaign. This program was organized by YB Dato' CK Lim, Assemblyman for Damansara Utama. A presentation of Bunga Raya plants and Jalur Gemilang to all RTs and RAs was held in SS2 to create greater awareness of our national flower.

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

30 August 2006.
DJROA organized a countdown party in the evening of 30 August 2006. Although it was just a potluck party, there was no shortage of food. Various activities such as games, karaoke, line dancing and lucky draws were organized that evening to fill the time until the midnight countdown. At 12 midnight, the Jalur Gemilang was raised by the DJROA committee members to the tune of the national anthem.

DJROA ANNUAL DINNER 2006

5 Aug 2006, Grand Ballroom of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort

Songs and laughter marked the enjoyable eveningand thanked all present for their participation at various activities organized by the association.

YB Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting when giving his speech reiterated that he and his family are proud residents of Damansara Jaya. He gave a pleasant surprise by announcing a grant of RM8000 for the activities of DJROA.

Programs included:. More than 400 members and friends attended the function. We were delighted to have our Hon Member YB Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting and wife Datin Seri Wendy Ong as our guests of honour. Other VIP's present include YB Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, YB Dato' CK Lim and YB Senator Lee Sing Chooi. Our President Mr. Yew Cheng Hoe gave a warm welcome speech

MAJLIS ANUGERAH MBPJ



DJROA participated in the MBPJ best neighborhood competition in 2004 and won 2nd place. This was the 2nd time we entered the competition. The first time was in year 2000, we were awarded the first prize.

Sunday, 16 July 206 morning saw many DJ residents walked in to DJROA Community Centre to witness the preliminary round of the DJ Idol karaoke competition. The contestants came in with their beautiful dresses and handsome outfit. They were well prepared and were seen performing in confident. It was hard time for judges - Mr Don Kawa, Ms Quah Yu Xin and Mrs Lee to select 5 finalists for the Final Round on 5 Aug 2006 DJROA Annual Dinner at Tropicana Golf & Country Club.

HEALTH TALK – DIEBETES

The bi-monthly health talk organised by DJROA and co-ordinated by Allin Pharmacy were proved to be well received by the residents of DJ. As we could see many had turned up for the latest talk "New perspectives in the management of Diebetes" on 25 Jun 2006 ( Sunday) at DJROA Community Centre.

The speaker was Dr. Muruga and Sponsoring Company: Sanofi Aventis and Abbotts

Prior to talk there were free random Blood Glucose Monitoring and Dinner was provided to end the event.
